Babe Ruth are a rock band from Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England. They were initially active in the 1970s and reformed in 2005.

A predecessor of the group, called Shacklock after guitarist Alan Shacklock, was formed in 1970.

The music career of Alan Shacklock reads like a history of British rock and roll. He started out rocking as a pre-teen hobnobbing with other future luminaries and eventually made it big as the guitarist and creative force for the 70s blues band Babe Ruth.

“The Mexican”, a 1972 song that was written and produced by SAE Nashville Audio Technology Department Chair Alan Shacklock and recorded by his band Babe Ruth, was featured in the debut episode of HBO’s boxing documentary “24/7: Cotto vs. Canelo”.
